"Hello, I'm Ilan, thanks for visiting my website. I first became interested in musculoskeletal health in 1993, when, during weight training sesson, I tore a tendon in my right shoulder. The injury became less acute during the days that followed, yet failed to heal completely. It began to affect my daily life - most movements of my arm aggravated the pain, and every time I exercised it reverted to its original acute state. Conventional medicine failed to provide a solution as I was unwilling to undergo surgery, and pain killers only provided temporary relief.
I therefore arranged a consultation with an osteopath, which involved questions regarding my medical history and lifestyle, and a physical examination. After a series of treatment sessions, comprising stretches, manipulations and rehabilitation exercises, I was able to return, pain free, to my regular exercise regime, which included weight training, running and martial arts. In fact, I felt even better - looser and more balanced - than before the injury! I went on to participate in various sporting events and eventually became a YMCA certified fitness trainer and a martial arts instructor.
My interest in the human body, in fitness and wellness, and in the effects that physical limitations have on all areas of our lives grew, and I continued to study various health-related topics. In 2000, after having graduated from the Academy of Sports Therapy, I began treating sporting injuries and became involved with rehabilitation programs in health clubs across London. In the same year I began my osteopathic training at the London School of Osteopathy. I graduated in 2005 with an honours degree, which is recognised by the General Osteopathic Council and the British Osteopathic Association."
